Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch

Has anyone stayed at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch near Stanley? How were the accomodations? Was there good hiking nearby? Did you enjoy the food? Thanks.

Hi cmc,
I love the Stanley area in Idaho. It is so beautiful! I have never stayed at the IRM Ranch, so can't help you there.

Hopefully, you will take day trips to other areas. In the Sawtooth Mountain area, Stanley Lake and Redfish Lake are nice and the Sawtooth Mountain overlooks are also worth a stop for photos. There is hiking in the area. While we were driving through, we stopped at Prairie Creek Campground in the Sawtooth area. This has a picnic area with outstanding scenery and hiking trails.

Also, Sun Valley is a great place to visit (or stay as an alternative). Lots of activities, shopping, dining, horseback riding, hiking, tennis. They have it all.

In Stanley, we stayed at the Mountain Village Lodge. It is one of the only places in Stanley. It has a nice view of the mountains and all the basics.

Good luck planning!

Mmm, loved Stanley, ID - I was there in early Sept. a few years ago. Just beautiful. Great hiking all over the area; check in at the National Forest ranger station for advice and maps.

When we weren't out camping in the backcountry, we stayed at the Riverside Motel in town, which I do recommend. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the accomodations were quite nice (we stayed in the Sawtooth 4-plex; bet those units that were actually riverside would be quite nice.)

For dining, I highly recommend the Kasino Club. Very good. The restaurant at Mountain Village isn't bad either, but more basic, although the portions were huge.

Sorry I can't give you specific information on the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch - it does look nice. I'm sure you'll enjoy the area regardless of where you stay...

Thank you both! We fell in love with the area about two years ago and want to return with some friends. Your suggestions will go a long way towards making it a great trip.
