I don't know about the season...but what did you think of the awards (Tony) show?

They rushed through the portion of the show that showed the actors who were lost this past year and Jerry Orbach was the last.
I've always enjoyed the Tony's, considered it the best & classiest of all the award shows. I thought last night's show was a complete departure from the usual, more like the Oscars. (Thankfully, though, they didn't overwork the production numbers!)
I'm still trying to figure out what Hugh Jackman's particular talent is (other than those incredibly white teeth).

Ohh! That was the Tony's I was watching last night. NOT the Hugh Jackman variety hour. (not that it would be a bad thing as cute as he is) I thought the show was a snooze but I missed the opening. Maybe I would have been in a better frame of mind after watching Billy Crystal. I also wish they would showcase more Broadway talent. They aren't going to get huge crowds to watch anyways so why not show what theater has to offer to those that do watch. I am sooo tired of Marcia Cross and anyone involved with Desperate Housewives.

I laughed when Christina Applegate did her 'fall' but when she sang I could have cried. Who told this darling girl she could sing? And why humiliate her in front of a TV audience? She worked so hard to make this show happen but really, it was embarrassing.

This show needed a lot more Bernadette Peters and a lot less Christina Applegate. She's a great movie comedienne but not a great Broadway headliner, not yet anyway.
And I've had about all I can take of Hugh Jackman as the host of this bore-fest.

To explain the "near paranoia" (my words) about ending the Tony show on time: CBS has warned them that, unlike the neverending Academy Awards, the Tony show must end on time...or else. And, the "or else" might be that CBS doesn't broadcast the show the next year!
The low ratings of the show each year really don't give the Tony organization much bargaining power.
