I bringing a box. Should I leave it untied?
So they can open it and search it?
I read somewhere where you leave it untied, but bring string and tape with you to bine it up after they search it. But then, where do you store the sissors after you're done? Or that tape container that has that sharp edge to it? They're not going to let you bring it on the plane are they? Or does the airport provide you with the material?
Never had to travel with boxes before, so appreciate any advice.

When my son brings presents from Japan, he wraps them in tissue, in a box that is not taped or tied shut.
These boxes are in suitcases, is that what you mean?
If it is a box that is coming on the plane alone, it has to be taped.
Good luck

Thanks Scarlett.
One will be inside the suitcase. It's wrapped right now, but I guess we'll unwrap it just in case.
Another will be a rather large box all by itself as checked in luggage. I'll tape it shut and if they need to search it, I'm going to assume the airport has tape and or string and scissors to retie/tape.

You can go ahead and leave the wrapped present wrapped. Odds are they will not open it..just don't be surprised if they do
They do have tape, they opened a backpack of my sons, that had been held shut with a twist tie, and they taped it and put on a new twist tie.
He travels back and forth every year, from Japan and has only had his things looked through once..so, hopefully, you too will have good luck~
