Just wanted to say thank you to Olive Oyl, Andrew and Anthony!
After waffling about trying PL or just paying hotel price for most of the month, I decided to give PL a try, with our Hyatt reservations still cancelable (sp?)
Since it was a weekend in high season and really not wanting to mess around with bidding and counterbidding I started at $90/night for 5/9-5/11 (PL advised resorts were $239). And it was accepted in under 2 minutes. Ttl w/taxes, etc was $201.75.
Just have to cancel the phone res now!!
Thanks again.

Good job, Alice! Based on the tax Priceline charged you, they paid $79/night for that room, so you overpaid by only $11/night. You might have saved up to $22 on your stay had you been willing to futz around with bidding, but you still got a great deal. Had you been staying for, say, 5 nights instead of just 2 some more finessing might have been worthwhile.
