Hyatt

Will I be completely out of the loop if I
stay at the Grand Hyatt? I want to be where
the action is, will the grand Hyatt be a
boring area to stay in?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Grand Hyatt in Midtown Manhattan? The Grand Hyatt is a really nice hotel, the rooms are a little on the small side though. You're not out of the loop staying there. Times Square is about a 15 minute walk. The subway is right there and there are always taxis available right outside the hotel.

There are a dozen Grand Hyatts in the US alone.

This is to [email protected]. I become annoyed at people who question others posts. It is perfectly obvious that someone posting on the NEW YORK board is asking about a NEW YORK hotel. I understand that when the FODOR's page is first opened that all posts are showing, but if you don't understand one, MOVE ON!!! The question makes perfect sense to people on the state board which it was meant to be posted to. I don't even read the general posts because they are for all over the country and can be confusing- but then they are meant for a specific board.

Hate to break it to you "mom", but you're the one who's way off base here.
Upwards of 95% of people who read the Fodor's US forum read it without limiting to a single state.
That means that for 95+% of readers here, a post like the original one above means absolutely nothing because the poster was too clueless to put any identifying info in the header or the body of the post.

Learn the rules before casting aspersions.

Yes, Mom, get a clue. I travel often and read ALL of the posts. It's VERY annoying to read "which hotel?" and not see a city? And to top it off, the choices are Marriott, Hilton and Sheraton...could be ANY TOWN, U.S.A.

Just returned and had considered the Hyatt. I would only stay there if you want to be near the trains. Better location would be either of the Sheratons on Broadway--perfect central location.

Well, the Grand Hyatt is not necessarily out of the way; it is next door to Grand Central Station and there is always something going on there...it is busy as Grand Central Station, as the saying goes. WE stayed at Grand Hyatt once in July. Enjoyed walking and dining in the area, took buses and subway and cabs elsewhere. Would stay at this loc again unless going somewhere specifically, such as museums near park (we are looking at hotels in that direction for future trip.)

I'm sorry, I don't see how asking what city/state you're asking for is "too mean." I think that "mom" was too mean because, although I've been on this board for over 2 years, I never realized it went by states. I just click on the US board. I think that xx was really being sincere so that we could all provide you with the best information possible. Nothing mean about that, is there?
