Husband bailed on our PHX trip this weekend...now what?
Now I am stuck all alone Saturday and Sunday in Phoenix.
What should I do?
We had plans to hike all day, both days. Silly as it may seem, I am too scared to hike alone.
I really can't afford a shopping weekend. Not too interested in museums.
What the heck do I do?
I love window shopping in cute downtown type places... I love small interesting towns, festivals and markets.
Any ideas?

Read "Loving Frank," by Nancy Horan and check out Talisien West, Frank Lloyd Wright's home. Wonderful!

I love Taliesin West too. If they are offering the Friday night tour, take that one. The place is magical at night and you can get a glimpse of what it was like when the complex was WAY out in the desert all alone.
If it were me, I'd head up to Sedona for the day. I'd take a Pink Jeep tour and/or a biplane tour. NOTHING is as wonderful as flying over the red rocks at sunset.
I've not gone to the little town of Jerome but that would be a good excursion too.

drive up to Sedona/Jerome for the day..
takes about 2 hours or less each way..
Have lunch at Enchantment Resort at Yavapai.make reservations since you need to be on the guard list to be let in..
Stunning property!
We are staying there for a week in March and always have a wonderful time of hiking, good food and wine and just connecting with nature.
Taliesin West, is another great thing to do on Sunday or the Heard.
Best to you TxTravelPro!

Ditto Sedona...stay at Enchantment Resort and treat yourself to some spa treatments at Mii Amo. Fun/easy hikes right there in Boynton Canyon, and very safe to do it alone since it's literally right there at the resort.
You would also have some fun strolling around Sedona.

Take my pocketbook..LOL
that could be almost anything in Sedona..
You can stay at a La Quinta Inn for under $100 and enjoy all the perks of the Enchantment resort and the hiking around Boynton Canyon is wonderful and wife has done it by herself with no worrisome issues..

It appears that there will be rain Saturday and Sunday all they way from Tucson to Sedona.
That really throws a wrench into my plans.
Sorry to switch gears on you all, but what do I do for 2 RAINY days (Sat/Sun) that is not a museum or 100% shopping?
I promise I might change my mind about Talisien.

I would easily spend all day and evening lounging at Royal Palms' Alvadora Spa. You can sign up for as little as one service [yeah, like I would do only one!!] and then simply lounge about reading, taking steam, sauna, etc. They don't rush you out, so you could easily spend an entire day there. Stagger 2 appointments, if you feel guilty.
They have a wonderful restaurant, T. Cookes, so you won't starve to death either.

I found the Cosanti bell factory interesting. They were pouring bells when I was there. See:

If the weather does clear up, I also enjoyed the Desert Botanical Garden. There's a special Dale Chihuly glass exhibit there right now. See the website for details. I think the free weekend is next weekend, not this, however.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
Maybe I will do a tour of the Royal Palms, I am 'close' to that property through my job.
I'll probably still drive around and sight see. I could still do a little shopping town in the rain, right?
Is Carefree such a town?
I might check out the BX at Luke AFB.
Is that Nordstrom outlet still on Camelback?
I can't recall the name but amid all the junk, I found some good stuff.
Any spectaular outlet malls within an hour of PHX?

Well... I ended up working most of the day Saturday and enjoyed the rooftop patio at my hotel (The Clarendon).
I went to bed early, slept 10 hours and went to downtown Tempe Sunday afternoon.
So, I had no initiative to do anything. The weather was iffy and I just decided to take it easy. I did go to Last Chance twice... and bought 4 pair of New Balance shoes for 12.98 a pair. Awesome bargain!
I drove around Scottsdale and looked at the houses.
I am saving all my 'to do' list for the next trip... with my husband.
We hope to go within the next month or two!
