Hubby and I- 4 days to explore PGH
We have a room at the Renaissance ($90/nt booked thru Priceline!)We have tickets to a ballgame on Thurs. night. What suggestions do you have for things to see and do? Has anyone seen Shear Madness?
We are late 40's and aren't really into the bar scene, but would like to go out somewhere fun and have a few drinks. Suggestions?
What are some great places for lunches with something a little different?
Museums, sightseeing or tour suggestions are welcome!
Thanks for your help!

The standard tourist things that I would recommend are in no particular order:
Incline to Mt Washington for the view and a walk along the Mount. Monterey Bay is where I would go for dinner, although I have heard good things about CoalHill Steakhouse. Both are pricy.
Strip District Saturday morning. Fresh produce, Italian, Asian and Mexican markets, streetside vendors.
Across the bridge from your hotel is the Warhol museum. Also on the Northside is the Science center (Titanic exhibit) and the National Aviary. Oakland for the Carnegie and Phipps conservatory.
Right on Sixth by your hotel are a couple of bars/ restaurants--Six Penn and Oliver Twist that generally have a good crowd. Seviche on Penn a couple of blocks away is good try for lunch or cocktails later.
Southside is my favorite neighborhood but on weekends it's overrun with college students. If you are visitng this weekend (August 8th and 9th) you might want to avoid the Southside, especially near the Southside works area (Outdoor shopping area with a lot of chain stores and restaurants)since there is a two day music festival on Friday and Saturday. It's sold out so it may be a zoo. Speaking of which we have a great one.
Hope that gets you started. Have fun!

On the "lunch...a little different" front -- I love Church Brew Works. It's a brewery housed inside a former church and even the pews have been converted to seating. The interior is definitely unique/different. Food is pretty good too - try the pierogie pizza.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I have been to PGH, but it was 6th graders! I'd like to see the town from an adult's point of view. Both of you gave great suggestions, thank you for taking time to post. We will be there Aug 14, so we'll miss the music fest crowd!

I saw Shear Madness 2 years ago...and LOVED it! My husband and I went knowing little about the show. It sooo funny. We stayed in the same hotel and went to the baseball game. Is there a band playing after the game at the stadium? See if they are having fireworks...beautiful over the river! Union Station is a fun place to cool off, eat, shop, etc. Have a great time. PGH is one of my favorite cities!
