Saturday, we hiked into two mountain lakes in the Tobacco Root mountains and caught three small fish.

On Sunday, we went to Nevada City, Virginia City, and then Ennis, MT. Nevada City is a well-preserved ghost town. You can walk around and check out the old buildings, homes, cabins, etc. Then we stopped at the candy store in Virginia City and also picked up some homemade ice cream in homemade waffle cones.

Next, on to Ennis and then to Pony, MT. Pony is a tiny mountain/mining town at the base of Hollowtop Mountain. My parents were climbing Hollowtop and we met them at the Pony Bar for beer and burgers. The Bar has good greasy burgers and homemade fries.

And who should show up while we're there but one of my sisters and her ex(?)-fiance. Ooh, the drama. Are they back together? Are they just friends? Who knows, but the burgers were really good.

If you're interested in a fancy new resort in the Pony, MT area (and who wouldn't be, right?), check out Potosi Hot Springs Resort. They're charging over $300/night. We checked it out this weekend; it's beautiful. But so is the free forest service campground a mile past the resort.

And yesterday, we picked five bags full of apples from my in-laws orchards before heading back home. Now we need to make some pies and homemade applesauce.

It was a good weekend.

A busy end to a busy summer. My weekend was 6 days long. Wednesday I took clients to the US Open tennis, since Tuesday was a rainout, Wed. was a double bill. Great tennis. Thursday was a work from home day. Friday I played golf with DH and my new clubs. Best round of the summer for me. Amazing the confidence you get from new clubs! Saturday we went to Wash DC with another couple and had a really good time. DC got the worst of the weather on Friday, so Saturday was a bit rainy but cleared up nicely by about 6pm. Came home last night and now, back to the grind. BTW, tennis will miss Andre Agassie. thanks for 21 years of great tennis!

We headed to the Lancaster, PA/Hershey area for the weekend. Salvaged the weekend on Sunday and Monday morning. Ernesto put a damper on things but we eeked out some fun anyways!

Bosses let us out of work at 2PM on Friday!! What a great way to start the weekend.

Number 3 son (the only one who still lives at home - when he's not away at college) is home from Japan!!! So let's have a party!

Saturday - DH did the yard ALL DAY to get it ready for GTG. I cleaned and went shopping for food and drink. Then I cooked up a storm. Sat night DH and DS are sleeping and I'm sitting in the living room watching 2 news guys who were rescued from the Gaza. DH walks into LR and asks me why I'm crying. It was a happy sad and to see the camraderie between those two.

Sunday - Beautiful, beautiful weather. The rain held off and friends and family began to arrive around noon. It was a good thing the weather held, I have a nice big back yard, but a small house. They ate ALL the food (that's what I get for having a bunch of 20 something guys over - they're like locusts). My niece and nephews have a blast. All three of my sons at my house for the first time in over a year!! That alone is a cause for celebration. Party winds down around midnight with fire in the firepit. I just want to leave the mess for tomorrow.

Monday - Son is on computer "talking" to Australian girlfriend when she informs us of Steve Irwin's death. So sad. Loved watching that guy with aforementioned sons. The rest of the day was cleanup and vegging. Went to bed early. Son has first day back at work Tuesday, and he's still pretty jet lagged.

Tuesday - back to work. Bummer

Did labor related things around the house and yard Sat but Sunday did a great hike at Silver Falls State Park east of Salem Oregon. There are 10 waterfalls within a very small area - at several of the falls, the trails go in behind the falls so the water gushes out over your head. Had lunch sitting on a log at the base of Double Falls.
It was a beautiful day, 4 of us did the hike. One of my friends had just returned from his annual summer bike ride- of 2200 miles - no wonder he wanted to hike for awhile

Ah, the Burning Man. Fiana, I'd rather walk on hot cinders, eat dirt and worms, well, you get the idea. I would never go NEAR Burning Man. It's out in the Blackrock Desert, hot, dusty, dirty, oh YUK!!!! Lots of booze, lots of drugs..drugs?...NO!!!!! It's fine for those that like that sort of thing. They had 39,000 people from all over the country and the world out there last week...bless 'em. It's just NOT MY cuppa, if you know what I mean.

Friday we said "good-bye" to our S&BIL and nephews as they headed back to England.

Saturday we had rain and wind. My DH decided that we should go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We had English tea in the Petrie Court Cafe which was quite nice. We headed to 83rd Street to pick up some German salami and pumpernickel bread. We took Metro North home and got stuck on the tracks - stop/go - several times because of down trees. After nearly 3 hours on the train, we finally had to switch trains to get home. Lucky for us, because after that they suspended service. There was no salami left, lol. I was hungry.

Sunday....ahh what a beautiful day! My DH and I headed to the NY Botanical Gardens to see the Chihuly exhibit. What an outstanding exhibit!! It was so great getting outdoors after a long week of rainy weather.

Monday...DH spent the day cleaning up the yard from the storm. I spent the day preparing for an interview (I had today). We were both kind of tired...

Tuesday...it's raining...again!

Saturday morning I woke up to find that Ernesto had deposited a large tree limb, along with power, cable and telephone wires, on top of my car. Most of the weekend was spent with JCP&G trying to get it repaired. Finally I was informed on Monday that I had to get an electrician to do the work.
Monday the weather was nice, so a group of neighbors had a picnic at our beach. If was very pleasant. Nice also was than on my walk to the beach I could watch all the summer people loading up their rental trucks to head out until next June!!!
