I recently flew out of PHL to Las Vegas. It was early in the morning. Security was VERT tight. Everyone was throughly looked over. Most of us were told to remove our shoes. My purse was sent through the machine three times and was then throughly searched. Depending on the time of day would be my answer. At 5:30 AM we were sure it would be quick. We were in for a surprise. It took about 45 minutes to check in and get through security.
Good luck!

let me get this straight-a guy asks a normal question, which is one of the functions of this board and he has to deal with "pseudo machos" that hide behind the stealth of anonymity who prove the point that we have become a rude nation --what a shame !

Chuck, depends on airlines, and the time, such as weekend etc. We usually leave as early as possible mid-week on U.S. air, have e-tickets, so we only arrive about 1 hour ahead and have been all right. There wasn't a problem with only 1 hour. That is cutting it close, to be safe 1.5 hours would about it I would think. I hope this helps you.

Chuck, it depends on the day of the week, the time of day, and time of the year. If it is a Monday morning, 2 hours because there will be a lot of business travelers. Ditto for Saturday morning because of leisure travelers. On a Wednesday afternoon? Probably an hour and ten minutes. I try to never cut it under an hour. If there is a long line, and you don't check in 30 minutes before departure, they will not let you on the flight.
