How early do you need to get to the airport in Las Vegas before flight? Any security problems?

It only took us a few minutes to go through security, but the walk back to our gate was a little long. I'd get there about an hour and a half in advance.

I think it depends on the day of the week and time. I generally leave Vegas on Sundays and the lines to ticketing and security are really long.

I guess that it depends when your flight is. The last time I was in Las Vegas about 9 months ago, I had a Sunday morning flight around 10:30. The check-in with American took about 15 minutes, but the line for security took almost 2 hours! There were people in line that nearly missed their flight. My advice would be to get to the airport at least 2.5 hours ahead of time, especially if leaving on a Sunday, when many people are going home.

Last time I was there, in March, the security line looked to be about 1/2 mile long, no joke. There was a worker at the end of the line telling people to expect an hour and a half wait until they got to the front of the line. Everyone in line would have probably missed their flights at that rate. Luckily, it moved much quicker and we got to the front in about 30 minutes. We probably left on a Sunday afternoon.

I was in Vegas in August. I left on a Thursday and got from ticketing counter to the gate in about 50 minutes. You can save time by checking in directly at the gate if you don't need to check baggage. I could have cut 30 minutes off my check-in time if I'd gone directly to the gate instead of stopping to check bags.
