How many hours did you spend at the Johnson Space Center?

My husband and I will visit JSC at the end of June. I'm trying to get an idea on how much time we should budget for this. I read "several hours", but is that 3 hours or 5 hours, or more...?
Thanks for your help.

I guess a lot depends on what kind of visitor you are == my sister will read EVERY sign, description etc and will take twice as long as the rest of us when we travel to museum etc. I read what interest me and skim the rest and move on.

Hope this helps...

I attended a special event there as a dinner event. Dinner was served and we had run of the place for the evening. For most of us, dinner and strolling the exhibits and participating in some of the interactive attractions took 3 hours or less. I was on the first bus back to the hotel. So, I agree with Debi. 5 hours if you want to see (and read) every little thing and about 2 1/2 or 3 hours for the rest of us.

We went in july 1999 and took an organized tour of the space center. It may have changed since 9/11 but we were taken thru the center on a tram, making many stops at different buildings. "Mission Control" was amazing, as we were there right before the launch of the columbia space shuttle. Our kids were chosen to participate in some demonstrations, and there were a few things to 'play' with too, like a lunar-jumping thingy and zero gravity type ride.

We all agreed that the Johnson Space Center was a much better tour than Kennedy Space Center in florida. It was one of the highlights of that summers 3 week road trip. Again tho, this was pre 9/11 so it may be different now.

Hope this helps.

ok, so i just realized i didn't answer your question re time spent so i got out my travel journal to find out. we took the 10 am tour, saw an IMAX movie, had lunch in their cafe (broc-cheese soup was pretty good considering where we were ) did the Lunar Jumper, Space Twirler, Life in Space demo and other interactive games (for all ages). Left the center at 5 pm. It was really a great day.

Sorry if TMI and again this was pre 9/11, but hope this helps.

We were just there last weekend and I'd allow at least 5 hours. The tram tour alone is 90 mins and we didn't have time for it. (We were there about 3 hours). The IMAX movie was 50 min and the other film which then leads into the exhibit hall (spacecraft, moon rocks etc) is another 1/2 hr. Time spent in the exhibit hall is up to you and how detailed you are but takes at least 1/2 hour. There are other exhibits and hands-on stuff that are fun (you can land (we crashed!) the space shuttle). There also will be crowds in June, especially on the weekends so could take longer. We had not been in many years and found ourselves with a free Saturday afternoon in Houston after previous plans fell through so decided to revisit JSC and had a great time. Enjoy your visit.

Disregard my post above. It is obvious that we only had access to the exhibit hall. Sorry, caribtraveler.
