How is the Wyndham Reach Hotel?
My husband and I are going to key west Thanksgiving week. We booked the Wyndham Reach after viewing internet photos. It looked nice, we like ocean views with a balcony on vacation. But I haven't heard good things. We like privacy, ocean view, pool, as few children as possible. Is this hotel nice? Thanks

I've stayed here thru both Priceline and Hotwire. The grounds are very nice. Both times we were upgraded to a junior suite, which was nice, but we had no view. The pool and spa are very nice. The location is very good. I've never been impressed with the staff. I joined the Wyndham Club before I left the first time and there were supposed to be room refreshments waiting for me, but there weren't, and when I mentioned it to the staff they couldn't have cared less.
I think it's a good place to stay as long as you didn't pay too much. I have never paid more than $80.

I just had some friends stay at the Casa Marina and they reported it is under construction in several areas. They were also disappointed with all of the kids that were there and how far from town it was. I understand the Reach is a little nicer but still gets many families.

Casa Marina is not under construction, at least not in early August.
The Reach is the one under reconstruction.
As far as distance from town, Casa Marina and Reach are actually next door to each other. Each is only four short blocks from Duval, the main drag.
CM and R are at the east edn of Duval - AWAY from the teens in cars blasting their horns, and the 1,000 tee shirt shops that have taken over the town.
CM has two large pools and the nicest beach in KW. I've stayed at both R and CM, and CM wins hands down.

Dolphin,
Here is a link to a Key West map that I find comes in useful when we are planning a trip down. The Reach is not on it but if my memory serves me correctly it is at the end of Duval near the Southernmost House. I forget which side of Duval it is on. Maybe someone will know.

Thanks to all of you.
If anyone can recommend another hotel
with a balcony and ocean views (doesn't have to have a beach)a nice pool and no or few children I would greatly appreciate it. We are paying $200 a night for the Reach. Too much? I think maybe we can do better.
