How is the new Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel?
I just booked our first night in Vegas at this new hotel based upon their website photos. We are spending the next two nights at Bellagio. I can still change my mind, so I'm depending on the Vegas experts here to advise me.

Thanks, travelinwifey, I did check out the sites you recommended. Biddingfortravel didn't have much, but tripadvisor did. The problem with tripadvisor, for me at least, is that there are always widely differing opinions and I don't know who to believe. Often their ratings don't jibe with my own opinions.
I do feel more of an affinity with the recommendations of our Fodors group. They're the best!

The thing about reviews on tripadvisor (or even here) is to really get details as to why the reviewer feels that way. You'll definitely get widely varying reviews, because we all like different things. When there are a lot of reviews like "this place is horrid" or "we loved staying here" it doesn't help much! But when they give details it's better. For example, one of the negative reviews of a hotel that I really like complained that the carpet in the hallway was too busy, so it made it difficult to find your room when you came back drunk.
I figured if that's the only thing they could find to complain about I could probably enjoy staying there, and I did.
Can't help with this hotel, though. Where in Vegas is it? I don't remember hearing about it when we went last month.

Jlm, good point about the reason someone might pan a hotel. The Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel is a little off the strip, about a mile from the Bellagio, right across from the new Wynn Hotel. Just opened December 31st. No casino. Very modern furnishings and right next door to the convention center. Monorail is a few steps away which whisks you onto the strip in no time.
