How are we suppose to read posts?

Anyone else having problems seeing the first post in the thread because of the Escapes - Get the guide that gets you closer to British Columbia popping up and blocking most of the posts?

I also see that it's near impossible to respond to a thread and I can see of no way to remove that pop up. I've even clicked on it and it opens a new page but the pop up still stays.

Very annoying!

Hi utahtea, there are a lot of post in the Forum about the BC Advertisement popping up when we click on a thread and covering most of the first post that starts the thread and also the "Post My Reply".

I emailed Katie the Editor..just in case they were not aware as you know there is no X (close) Box to close this disruptive ad. Hopefully Fodor's will get this fixed ASAP.

I the meantime this is what I am doing. When I want to open a thread I click it on and immediately (real fast like you are playing a video game) click on the Post My Reply. You see of course the posting box but you also see the all of the posts on the left hand side of the box. That is what I did to respond to this thread of yours.

I will email this thread to Katie also so they will know the problem is not just on the Lounge.

Oh great Starrs, are we going to have to go through all 50 states plus all the provinces of Canada (how many provinces does Canada have btw).

BTW, as I am typing this a different type of box popped up, covering utahtea's second post. A blue rectangle box. Also from the BC Escapes Guide. It does have the "close" box however.

Clicking several timeson the thread title in the right column seems to clear the problem.

Clicking several times on the thread title in the LEFT column seems to clear the problem.

Sorry!

I realize this isn't helpful, but I'm not seeing the ad, either. I'm using Safari (Mac OS) with pop-up blocker turned on.

Is the solution on a PC as simple as turning pop-up blocker on? Can't be, or you all would have thought of it. Bummer.

I'm on a mac w/ safari too and get the stupid ad about every 3rd thread I open. Enough to make one swear off EVER visiting BC . . .

(I have pop up blocker turned on and this is the only "pop up" I remember getting)

I'm trying to reply to a couple of threads on the Europe forum but can't read all the details of what they want.

I have a pop up blocker too. I'm using IE 7, so that might be why I'm having the problem and others arent. I have searched and searched and I can not find a "close box" on that pop up. I also sent an email to the Editors.

I don't think we should have to play games to read and post on the forums.

Thanks for everyone's reply.

Yeah, this one is seriously obnoxious. I was planning to go to BC next month; it's enough to make me skip it, and skip Fodor's too.

I'm not seeing this at all. Using AOL browser and pop up blocker from default IE 7.

I haven't been getting any pop-ups at all - using either safari or firefox. Can't you just activate your pop-up blocker?

It was a problem yesterday, not today.

My pop up blocker was on and I was still getting them yesterday. It was more than just a pop-up...it must have been an advertisment that went astray.

So far, so good today!
