I'll be in NYC in early November. If scheduled then, I'll attend. In black, black and more black. I am checking my plaids at the NJ border. Yes, that is the only way I would attend ... I will not embarrass myself in tourist weeds. Let the planning begin. It's good to be alive. Ciao

Check your plaids at the Tennessee border, L. the closest we Jerseyites get to plaid would be hawaiian print on our surfing baggies.

Sheesh!

I can see it, I can ... tasteful palms, swaying on a dark background. I need to update my data ... NJ has evidently gone up town while I wasn't looking. Okay, I shall check them in Maryland or Delaware, before I reach the NJTPK. Ciao

Hey New York! Mazzrat is at school right now so I was having a quiet check in with you all, pleased to see the revival did some good there too. [email protected] I think you'd better check the date on this one - unless someone wants to organise another dinner!

Uh no! Wrong there wow ([email protected])! Tweedy and Caitlin are people in their own rights and when I last saw her Esme definitely was too!! (She's my big sis). Esme is here in the UK and Tweedy and Caitlin (correct me if I'm wrong) are Native New Yorkers. As far as I'm aware no one's turned into anyone else - but then I don't see/speak to Esme 24 hrs a day so I spose I don't know what she could be up to!!!!!

Whoops - I'm redfaced once more - well, IF there's another Fodorite party in NYC, I would certainly like to know. I'm in DC ... but look for any excuse to get to one of our best cities. I love NY. And isn't this the time when she needs that show of support from all of us ... NY is truly a magnificient experience. I hope every American will make it a goal to travel there in the next year or so. I love that city. Ciao

L ([email protected]) - unfortunately the NYC dinner never happened! We (Mazzrat,Esme and I) were ready and waiting. Bestest clothes packed in our suitcases but it all petered out! Very sad because we were hoping to meet everyone but I seem to have that effect on things! Someone once told me I should go down to the local rugby club to find a man - the week I planned to go it burned down!!! C'est la vie!!

Well, Gytha, I am sorry it didn't work out ... but since the emphasis in all things NYC is on rebuilding, possibly you may wish to make another run at a dinner. Keeps us posted should it come about. You never know ... many of us might very well show up. And perhaps meeting a guy in an open area away from structures might improve the odds. I can only wish you good luck, and hopefull the dinner idea will rise again (those of from the south always use that expression). Ciao

Hello all,
If you do have a NYC gathering, please post the pics so we "left coasters" can enjoy the fun, too. Jerry Seinfeld is right about the spirit of New Yorkers.

We're still kicking ourselves for not being able to attend the SFran/Kavey dinner. Great folks all over The Fodor's Nation!
The Kals

ps to L...Black Print Hawaiian shirt, my XXXL striped shorts and aqua sox OK for NYC dinner?

Yessir, Kal, your attire will knit up the troubled thread of care ... if only we had the Bard with us to talk about threads on this one. So, yessir, black print Hawaiian ... satin palms gently swaying on a dark relief ... but just to be sure, stitch in a heisted Armani label. Striped shorts, right for any occasion, and especally in a city like NYC in loved with black and white parties. And what, I ask you, makes the outfit if not accessories ... you are "GO" on the aqua sox. Mom, go get the camera. Somebody stylish is making the scene. A good day to you out there where the grape harvests must be in full swing. Ciao

L,
Just got a BIG whiff of the grape harvest on 9-12 while cruising down the Silverado trail with a few bottles of Cakebread Chards, BV Cabs and Carneros Creek pinots in the trunk.

Maybe I'll ship a bottle or 2 back to the NYC gathering if we can't go?
We'd then be there "in spirits"

Mahalo,
Kal
