How about a Fodorite dinner party in NYC.

Since there seems to be lots of us in the Greater New York area, and lots of friends visiting in the next few weeks, how about a dinner party in the city some evening so we can all say HI, share some stories and a nice meal.

If we went to say America, we could accomodate a large group and make lots of noise, it is centralized location would be easy (18th St between 5th and broadway) and the menu is HUGE so there should be something for everyone, and it is pretty well priced.

So what do you all think? All I need is an approximate number to make a reservation.

Let me know.

Count us in Tweedy! We'd love to meet you all. We'll be arriving on Friday 20th October, so give us a while to freshen up and we'll be there. Will Mazzrat be able to come to? She is fairly socially acceptable (well, I hope so anyway) and would love to meet some American kids her age - male or female (heaven help us!) Esme

Hi - give me details and date. Although I am in DC, I may be able yo have a surrogate drop by for a while. Thanks, and if and when this spreads south to my city, let me know.

Joe, are you new? We have DC area Fodorite Luncheon's on a regular basis. The Fodorite meeting concept was started by Monica Pileggi on a trip to Paris. Monica and I(Dawn), worked together and had a NYC luncheon back in May. It was great, and we hope to have another in NY around the holidays. We will have another DC area luncheon sometime around the end of October.

Any further arrangements made on dinner? Are we planning weekdays or weekends? Are any of you joining us?

Dinner here in NYC sounds like fun. I found this site helpful in planning my trip last month to Galway and would love to meet some fellow travelers.

Let me know the date and place.

I guess I'd give it a go, too; but are the plans still in process?

Splendid, Dear. I'll be sure to bring out my Royal Doulton with the handpainted periwinkles. Would you like some riparian entertainments as well? I guess people of your social status would rather enjoy riparian entertainments, hmmm? Shall I ring the Vicar and invite him as well?

I would still be happy to co-ordinate a dinner here in the city for the 3rd or 4th week of October. How about Tuesday the 24th of October at America.

America is a fun restaurant, not expensive, hugh portions, huge menu and easy to get to. 18th St. between broadway and 5th Ave.

So let me know or suggest and alternate date.

Email me if you have any questions or other suggestions.

[email protected]

See you there.

October 24th is opening night of the World Series. If it's a subway series you wont have any problem getting a table anywhere. Everyone else will be home watching the game!
