Houston To Round Rock

I never go to Austin/Round Rock, but need to tomorrow. What's the best way to go there from Houston? Should I take 290 or go I-10W? Approximately how long is the trip? Any good and inexpensive eateries (for lunch) in Round Rock that I should be aware of? Thanks for your help!

I-10 to Columbus (Exit 696), then TX 71. That's the fastest way between Houston and Austin.

Carino's on the W service road of I 35
is pretty good for a chain and prices are reasonable.

If going to Round Rock, take 290 to I-35. 2.5 hours to Austin, another 30 minutes up to Round Rock.
