Hotwire 3 1/2* hotel in White House area

Greetings,

Does anyone have any idea what a Hotwire 3 1/2 * hotel in the White house/ capitol hill area might be for under $100? We are wanting to get a room close to the museums for this week, and are a little nervous about the situation--thought this group might have some experience in that arena.

Many thanks.

the White House and Capitol Hill areas aren't too close to each other.

You might get some help by posting this at BetterBidding.com, as they provides a database for Hotwire and Priceline hotels. There is much more info there for Priceline than Hotwire, but maybe one of the 'locals' there could help you out if the info isn't there already.

The Holiday Inn on Rhode Island Avenue is decent, and very convenient to the White House. Check out bargain rates, Holiday Inns open up unsold rooms at low rates 1 week ahead of time at www.weekendwebsavers.com

Why don't you look in the Dupont Circle area. There are many hotels and it's easy and close metro access for the mall area. There are lots of shops and restaurants and plenty of night time activity. Capitol Hill (which isn't near the White House as noted) is relatively deserted at night.

The Metro can easily get you to the Smithsonian from many points. Is there a specific reason you want a hotel so close by?

I would second the Dupont Circle area. We got a suite at the Embassy Suites hotel just off Dupont Circle for $80 a night on Hotwire. It's a very lively, safe area and close to the Metro.

If you want to use Priceline or Hotwire, i recommend the site website i mentioned above, www.BetterBidding.com

I forgot to mention another site if you don't want to use Priceline or Hotwire:
www.hotrooms.com which has good rates in the DC area.
