Hotels Near I-40 in Oklahoma City and Flagstaff, AZ

It's been a long time since I had a travel question, but here it goes. We have a sudden, last minute trip coming up next week and I need help fast. I'm looking for suggestions for hotels in Oklahoma City and Flagstaff, AZ for overnight stays for two people. Both hotels need to be near I-40 West. If anyone could advise me on clean, inexpensive places to stay, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

There are LOTS of chain motels in Flagstaff, just off of 40; shouldn't be hard to find one. Inexpensive to you is ??

If you pick up one of the discount coupon books at the welcome centers as you enter a state you can see where there are motel/hotels even if you don't use the coupon. Look for books like RoomSaver.

Another source is on line like hotelcoupons.com/?gclid=CJWpheX2krcCFQVU4AodsCgAUg
where you can print out walk in coupons for the cities you will be near along the way.

All the chains along the highway, would guess that hose near the airport exit are likely to be better than those near I35 since they serve more affluent travelers.

I should have said motel instead of hotels. They are needed simply to sleep in overnight before hopping back on the highway, so the easier the access I-40 West the better. A chain motel is exactly what I'm looking for, I just want to make sure it's clean and in a safe part of town. We once had a bad experience with a motel during a road trip and I don't want a repeat of that. Inexpensive=Don't want to spend a lot for a motel just to sleep in for one night. The coupon idea sounds great, but I want to make reservations now, not while on the road.

Thanks again!

Google these words -

hotels on i 40 in flagstaff az

hotels on i-40 in oklahoma city

Best bet is near exit 201; second best is exit 195. There are many places along the 201 exit that are all safe. We have stayed in Fiarfield Inn near there. Lots of places to eat too.

Look at a google map of i40 at those 2 exits, enlarge it so you can see motels near exits.

I still have no idea what prices is inexpensive for YOU, I know what it is for me. So, you need to do a bit of research using above ideas to see what works for you.

Look on hotels.com. I think you can get a pretty good idea of what the property is from their reviews. But I can't imagine that you couldn't just stop along the way--or read the billboards. That is what I've always done in Kansas on the interstate.

I stayed at this Quality Inn in Flagstaff by I-40 two years ago. Our room was clean and comfortable and the neighborhood was fine.

Thanks everybody! I will start working on all suggestions this evening. DebitNM, inexpensive, according to my husband, is between $70-$100 a night.

Most of those places would be shocked if you made a reservation. In my experience not necessary unless there is some kind of Cattlemen's Show going on.

Fairfield Inn is full. I'm seeing those high rates now but we have no other choice but Memorial Day weekend. Husband and daughter are heading to LA for daughter's internship (she's keeping the car) and all the pieces just now fell into place. When I was a SAHM, I was really good at doing this. Now, not so much.

It's done. Booked rooms at Comfort Inn Suites in Oklahoma, changed from Flagstaff to Winslow and booked a Quality Inn there. I want to thank everybody for their help! On a side note, looking for motels for this trip makes me realize how fast time flies by. When I first started using Internet forums for travel advice (the old AOL Travel Boards, Preview Travel, Fodors), I spent my time looking for hotels with pools to keep The Kid happy. Now that kid is a young woman in college off to her first big internship. I grow old, I grow old. Sigh.

Thanks again!
