hotels in Muir Woods/Sausalito area

I will be flying into San Francisco airport pretty late. I'm headed to Ft. Bragg and am in need of a cheap, but safe and comfortable hotel to stay in outside of San Fran headed toward Ft. Bragg. I was thinking Muir Beach or Sausalito...any hotel suggestions for those locations or a better place to stay that isn't too far outside San Fran? I plan to get up early and enjoy the nice drive the next morning.

I thought there was an Inn at the base of Muir Woods. I had dinner there a few years ago.

Could it be the Pelican Inn you're thinking of?

I just checked and yes there is an Inn at Muir Beach, called the Pelican Inn. It seems the rates are $190nt and it is VERY nice.

Try googling "hotels in Sausalito" and you will come up with several options.

The website for more info on the Pelican Inn is www.pelicaninn.com.

Hope this helps.

We have stayed at a Holiday Inn in Mill Valley. Very handy to Hwy 101 and Sausalito.

Hi Kelso07,

Although the Pelican Inn at Muir Beach and the Mountain Home Inn (which
travelbuff is most probably referring to) are both lovely - there is no way I would advise a late night trip over the windy roads
of Hwy 1 and the Panoramic Hwy to
reach them. I used to live in Mill Valley right below the Mtn Home Inn,
so I know of what I say-especially if the fog is in !

I'm with Michelle-go with Holiday Inn Mill Valley-when I lived in MV, it was a good choice for friends and family visiting us, also easy Hwy 101 access for a late night short stop over before heading up the coast
