Hotel with extra room in San Fran?

We're planning a weeklong trip to San Fran in May. With two pre-teen boys, we're finding that a hotel room with two doubles isn't comfortable for more than a night or two. Does anyone know of any deals for ajoining rooms, suites, condos for rent, or the like? We will have a car so we can stay in or out of the city. Thanks so much for your ideas!

First of all stay in the city, you don't want to be driving in and out. I would highly recommend the Columbus Motor Inn. I was there during Christmas vacation with teenagers. We had a two room suite for $135 a night with free parking. Great location. Check out this thread for more details:

Also do a search for Cow Hollow Suites. They are owned by the same company, more expensive but very nice. When I was researching hotels, I found that the majority of hotels in the Union Square area have small rooms with two double beds. I didn't even want to spend 3 nights crowded like that nevertheless a week!!

You can also check out Grosvenors Suites in Nob Hill. They get mixed reviews. I am sure others on here could recommend condo's, etc.

Sorry gave you wrong thread, can't seem to copy or paste the link to the thread. Anyway, just do a search for "San Francisco-Good value for family" and the post should come up.

Hi Rosebud. I was recently looking for the same type of arrangement, only in the city. I found that the Hotel Carlton is offering a special -- $79/$69 per night.

Hotel Rex has an executive suite, w/ king bed in bedroom and queen foldout couch in living area(no door separating living area from bedroom). $200 or $165/night, depending on day.

Orchard Hotel has a 500 sq. ft. suite, w/ king bed in bedroom and queen sofa sleeper in living room, separated by a door, for $234 (w/AAA), including cont. breakfast.

We ended up using Priceline. Did o.k., not great, getting 2 rooms at the Galleria Park for $75/room/night.

Hope this helps.

Columbus Motor Inn but keep it a secret! The rooms have gone up 30% since we started recommending the place on Fodors!
