Hotel Suggestions for St. Louis with 2 small children

We are going to St. Louis to see the zoo, children's museum, arch, brewery, etc. We will be driving there. We just want a nice clean, SAFE, reasonably priced hotel. Ideally with a pool and free breakfast. Any suggestions??

If you would consider staying out of the city about 20-30 minutes from each of the destinations you mention, I would suggest someplace like the Drury Inn in Creve Coeur. The neighborhood is suburban with fast food and casual restaurants, you are right off highway 270 (one exit fron highway 64/40 which you would take into the city), and they have a pool (though I think it is indoors). Prices are always better outside a city and parking at the hotel is free. We live in the area and family have always been pleased when they stayed there. There is a Marriot less than 10 minutes further west on 64/40 (in something called Maryville center because of Maryville University right there) that I have heard good things about but it is not as convenient to restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Have a great trip. I hope you are planning to wait until it gets a little cooler! If not, most of what you plan to see is indoors and the zoo has great indoor houses for cooling down!

I don't know if you will see this in time but I just got an email from wedeal.com offering 4 tickets to the Magic House (St. Louis Childrens Museum) for $20. You mentioned that you were going, so I thought I would give you a heads up. Have fun!

Hampton Inn & Suites St. Louis at Forest Park
5650 Oakland Ave, Saint Louis, Missouri, 63110, USA 1-314-655-3993

This one is very popular and is heavily booked - It is within minutes fo the park, zoo, Science Center etc. It has an indoor pool - it is newer too.

I think you'd love being by Forest Park at the Hampton Inn. The location will be perfect for you and your children.

Susan - I agree. If you are going to visit STL one might as well enjoy the city and the vibe. There are specials at some of the hotels in Clayton too which is a safe and central place to enjoy STL.

rg- while your suggestion is helpful I would disagree that this would be an optimal location to "expereince" St Louis.

The Drury hotels are great. There's a great one at Union Station in a renovated YMCA. There's a pool, and you can walk across the street to Union Station.
