Hotel? San Francisco

We are traveling to San Francisco Dec. 20-25. Please recommend nice 3 or 4 star hotel in Union Square area. We love to go out to nice restaurants and walk. Access to transportation a must. Please help. Thanks in advance

I stayed at the Renassance Park 55. It is right across from the terminus of the Union trolley line. The rooms, lobby and service are all excellent. I think it is a 3.5 or 4 star hotel.

Christmas time? The Westin St. Francis. View of the tree in Union Sqaure and a giant gingerbread house in the lobby. On the cable car line as well as a million buses.

A second vote for the venerable St. Francis. Old world charm RIGHT ON Union Square. Ask for the old section, not the tower...

Go to priceline and pick SOMA area, 4 star and pick a price around $100 you will get the Marriott because it is the only 4-5 star in that area. I got it for 60.00! Of course it was not that time of year. Otherwise the Westin is great stayed there many times.
