Hotel recommendation close to Ghirardelli Square?

My mother and I will be in San Francisco for one night in July. Would like to stay as close to Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf as possible for this quick visit. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

There is a Marriott right there that we have stayed in twice but it has been about four years. It is a block from Ghiradelli Sq. and right at Fisherman's Wharf.

We loved the Argonaut. The cable car turnaround is just steps away.

We loved the Argonaut too--very central and very nice.

I stayed at Argonaut last sept, perfect for what you are looking for, easy walk to Ghirardelli--the piers--and yes the cable car turnaround is right there, and the hotel is like only 2-3 years old.

Radisson is right there, also. For just one night, go with the best rate.

I would also recommend the Argonaut but it you can't get in there another choice would be the Tuscan Inn. Rooms are a little small but it was a nice atmosphere.

I'd agree with Paula and others. Just be aware that the Argonaut is right next to the tourists stuff of Fisherman's Wharf-just a bit removed.
The Argonaut is very nice though and I think you'd be happy there/
I did walk through the lobby of the Tuscan Inn and I liked it just as much. It was really pretty with lots of flowers in the courtyard and pretty fabrics everywhere.

Thanks everyone! We'll probably go with Argonaut. We originally had reservations at Holiday Inn Express but it is about 5 blocks away and my mother has a little trouble getting around. She wants to stay close to Ghirardelli Square so sounds like Argonaut is our best bet.

Your best deal will be with Priceline.
Check www.biddingfortravel.com for prices and then bid on Priceline. I got the Radisson for $45 a night about a year or so ago.
