If you are up for a cab ride, I like dining on the marina in Marina del Ray. very different vibe there, it's a sailing and boating comment, adjacent to Venice Beach

Cafe del Ray there is very good and has a wonderful marina view, call now to reserve a marina view window, and have dinner at dusk thru sunset. it is lovely, lovely, lovely, worth a short cab ride

magpie, I know you don't do seafood, but although Cafe del Ray is big on seafood, I have had all the meat dishes there also. The filet, lamb burger, veal, chicken are all good, as are the salads and beef tartare, etc. I think you'd like the vibe and view.
