Santa Lucia is the one you want.

There is only one station on the island of Venice, Venezia Santa Lucia. Maestre (sp?) is the stop just before Santa Lucia and is not in Venice proper. I believe that Maestre is where you leave a car parked if you have traveled to Venice by auto. From there you either take the train to Santa Lucia or a watertaxi.

You can also park in Venice .
Definitely Santa Lucia it is, Maestre is a place where you can find hotels with parking and of course at less expensive rates.

Take the train to the end of the line which is Venezia Santa Lucia. Venezia-Mestre is the town on the mainland and is not the station you want to get out at. Mestre is still part of the city of Venice but is not the Venice you want to see.
