Hotel on Waikiki for 2 nights?
Hi everyone,
My fiance and I will be honeymooning in Hawaii for 13 nights in August. We are flying into Oahu and out of Maui and are thinking of breaking up our trip in the following way: 2 nights Oahu, 4 or 5 nights Big Island, 6 or 7 nights Maui. We have the plane tickets, but no hotels yet. Since we most likely will only spend a couple nights on Waikiki, I'd like to be right on the beach, or at least within a very short walking distance. Looking for a nice hotel $200 or cheaper per night, within walking distance of shopping/restaurants, with a nice-sized pool, balcony/lanai...Thanks for your help!

I'd recommend the Outrigger Waikiki-we've stayed there twice and really loved it. It's right on the beach and in the heart of the action. Also, Duke's is great. Using the entertainment book, you should be able to get an OV room in your price range (we paid 190 in the summer and 220 at Xmas). The lanai has a table and 2 chairs. The pool is small and nothing special if that makes a differnce to you.

For a good deal, you might want to check out the Waikiki Parc Hotel. They have specials where you can get an ocean-view room, rental car, free parking, and buffet breakfast for two--all for $199 a night.
We stayed here and liked it very much. It's a nice little boutique hotel--the sister property of the Halekulani. You can sign at the Halekulani's restaurants and bar (but you can't use their facilities). The rooms are small but modern and clean and you get a great view of the ocean.
Service is wonderful. We were treated very well. Room service was served in record speed with orchids on the tray. The beach is across the street, and you are right in the heart of all the action.
The buffet breakfast is also really good, and the parking garage is convenient. Factor in the free rental car and it's a great deal.
The downside: there's not a big pool, nor are the terraces very large. Waikiki is very crowded and space is at a premium, so it is sort of difficult to find a hotel with a large pool at a discount price.
You might also try the Hilton--they are above $200, but not that much, I don't think, if you can find a special on their website. Good luck!
