Hotel near NYC for business
I will be traveling to New York City for 4 days of business later this month and would like to avoid the expensive rooms in Manhattan. Any suggestions on staying somewhere outside the city which have very easy access into Manhattan with 3 star (or better) room rates in the $150.00 /night range or a two bed room suite for around $300 per night?
thanks

If you are coming for business, it's not a particularly good idea to stay outside of Manhattan. But if you must, try to do it so that you are on a single-ride transit line of some kind. For $150 per night, you could probably get a 3-star room on Priceline.
Try the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, which is directly at a ferry stop and right across from Manhattan. Just realize that the ferry is not cheap, so transportation is going to cost you at least $20 per day extra.

There are some decent hotels in Jersey city (although I don;t know if you will get prices that cheap) but you must pick one that is right on top of a PATH station - for relatively (30 minutes or more - depending on where in Manhattan you have to be - may be an hour if your meetings are on the far east side).
If you chose the ferry options realize that it will cost you $20 a day approx to get to and fro - and that you are then on the far west side - so perhaps another 30 minutes to get to where your business is.
If I were in NYC on business I would want to stay in the area of the meetings - just to avoid all the hassles of getting to and fro at rush hour - which can slow things down considerably. If yo are alone you might consider Priceline in the area of your meetings and you might get something for $150 or so.
How many of you are there, what are your dates and what area is your business in? With more info people may be able to make suggestions.

the hotels in the city are not filling up so you should be able to find a hotel. Have you tried using Priceline or one of the budget suite hotels, like the Affinia or the Doubletree Suites or the Radio City Apartments. Also try The Ace, it's new and should fit the budget.
Look up what some of the successful bids are going for in the city on Priceline.
Trust us stay in Manhattan so you won't be spending the extra on getting back and forth into the city. You may be able to find a hotel close enough to walk to the meetings

There's a family room at the Hotel Metro with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (no sitting room) for $365/night plus tax. http://www.hotelmetronyc.com/default...g=home&rp=home I believe they include breakfast. For outside the city, if you're using Newark airport, Jersey City is the best idea. For JFK, Long Island City has some newish decent choices including the Country Inn & Suites. It's not a gorgeous area but only 1 subway stop from Manhattan.

Not at all fancy, but the Hotel Edison has a "Combo Room" with 2 separate bedrooms, TV in each, a/c, 1 bath. You'll have to check the website for rates for your dates, but in July that room runs around $265 before tax. Call directly if you want a AAA rate as that is not advertised on the website. http://www.edisonhotelnyc.com
