Hotel near JFK Library in Boston, Ma.

Could someone recommend a good hotel or motel near the JFK Library and Museum in Boston ? We will be coming from Logan airport. How far is the Library from South Station?

If we decide not to rent a car, how is the best way to get to this area from the airport?

I don't know of any lodging very near the JFK library, but this web site should be helpful

I just went to the website www.jfklibrary.org and if you look at the bottom of the page "visit us", you will get directions by car and public transit how to get there. It is on the "red line".

If you found a hotel downtown Boston, you can easily get anywhere in town by taking the T. Ask speciic directions when you enter the station, the booth attendents are always great and will answer any questions you have.

Please DO NOT plan on staying near the JFK Library. It's much better to stay in downtown Boston near the Red Line, and then ride the T to get to JFK Library. That way, at the end of the day when you return to your hotel, there will be tons of restaurants or other nightlife for you to choose from in the downtown area.

Choose any hotel that's near Park Street Station or Downtown Crossing Station (both on the Red Line).

To reiterate, there are really no hotels near the Library, nor would you want to stay in that area anyway (although the Library itself is in a beautiful spot.)

The Library is pretty close to South Station. Just take an outbound train to JFK/UMass station, then get on a shuttle bus to the Library.

You can really stay in any hotel in the central Boston neighborhoods and get there very easily.

The Library is in South Boston and is surrounded on 3 sides by water and the 4th side by the Boston campus of the Univ. of MA. As stated above no motels close-by, do stay in Boston and use the T. Please don't even think of renting a car if you are only going to be in the city and to JFK - expensive to park and a difficult city to navigate by car if you do not know it well (sometimes even if you do). It is an interesting stop and sight is beautiful.

Good advice. You can take the Red Line T to JFK/UMASS from the city center or Cambridge, then a shuttle bus from there to the museum. Very simple.

Do try to visit the Massachusetts Department of Archives and History while at the JFK Museum. It is a short walk away and has wonderful collections of documents and artefacts, both in regular displays and special exhibitions.

One has to be very careful booking accomodation in Boston. Hotels will use names like "Boston Peabody" which would be as useless for someone wanting to visit the local sites as, say, London-Hounslow would be for someone who wanted to visit Central London. Not impossible, just inconvenient.

The area around JFK Library/Museum does not have hotels for a couple of reasons. First, there is water on one side. It is also very near UMass Boston campus, which is primarily a commuter school. The area also seems to be permanently "in transition", although it is better than it was years ago. Just not much else around other than commercial and residential - not much need for hotels.

If you manage to dig up a hotel in the area it will likely not be a place you would want to stay. Anyplace on MBTA, especially if near Red Line of MBTA would be better. MBTA.com has an excellent routing option - you enter start and end point and it tells you how to get from A to B. Useful if you want to see how long hotel is from downtown. And miles from downtown are irrelevant - traffic and weird connections can make even small mileage seem large.

If you find a real great hotel deal, there is probably a catch - Boston lodging is quite expensive. So select carefully or check back here.

Will pile on here and recommend not at all trying to stay near the JFK Presidential Library. Like the rest here, I don't remember there being any hotels nearby anyway, and if there were, you wouldn't want to use them. The Library and UMass Boston are pretty isolated, and the area surrounding both lacks amenities (shops, restaurants, and such) and isn't very good.

There's a subway stop on the Red Line called "JFK/UMass." It's very easy to take the subway there from most tourist areas of Boston and catch the dedicated shuttle that runs back and forth (it's a long hike if you opt to walk instead).

I think it would help if you told us when you were coming to Boston, how long you're staying, and what you want to do.

If you only want to go the the JFK library and you have a car, the closest hotel is the Hilton Doubletree: http://www.hiltonfamilyboston.com/ho...oston-bayside/

It doesn't make any sense to stay there unless you are flying into town, going to the Library, then heading out of town. As others have said, there's nothing else around there.
