hotel in sonoma

I will be in Sonoma for two days - do you recommend the Mission Inn or the Renaissance? I would like to be close to the square so I don't have to drive to dinner, etc. Both seem very nice, have availability and are within my price range.

Of the two, the Renaissance is closest to the square, but still at least a 1/2 mile from the square itself (easy walk). There are many that are on the square, Sonoma Hotel, Inn at Sonoma, Bungalows 313. Here's a good link: http://www.sonoma.com/lodging/sonoma_valley.html

I thought that Renaissance was closer to the square. Of the hotels on the square, which are favorites? I want something that is the same quality as Renaissance.

Not on your list, but my favorite lodging in Sonoma is the Ramekins B&B above the cooking school by the same name. About 1/2 mile from the square.

Ramekins is so cute. The balusters are in the shape of asparagus.

I also like the Lodge at Sonoma. Had a great weekend stay.
