Hotel in SF Ca
Hi,
Anybody familiar with the Queen Anne Hotel in SF?
I have a short (3day) visit planned for business with a little personal time (visiting my dau at USF). This looks like a good location.
Thanks,
rbhm

Sutter @ Octavia. Mostly residential area, close to Japantown. Good bus connection with other areas. I think their parking is across the street on Octavia if you'll have a car. It's a small cute-looking hotel, never been inside.

Older hotel for budget travelers. About 3 blocks walk to frequent bus service. Nice that in the mornings, the hotel has a complimentary shuttle to a view stops, I think Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. You're on your own finding you way back, but it's easy. Nice neighborhood, but not in the "center" of the tourist area...it's quite a walk or it's a short bus ride.

Bus lines 2,3,4 West stop across the street. Same lines going East a block away on Post. Bus 38 both E and W 2 blocks away on Geary 2 blocks if you know the short-cut, 3 blocks if you don't
3 blocks to Van Ness if you go to Fishermen's Wharf area or Mission.

Thanks for the info. I realize this is not in the "center" of town. I am more interested in being close to my daughter at USF. The prime focus of my trip , besides my brief business, is to visit with her. There really are not a lot of hotels in the area of USF it seems, as it is mainly a residential area.

rbhm: You're correct that USF is in a residential area (very beautiful, top of a hill).
Don't know if you have tried to reach their on-campus help for visiting families. If not, try this:

Good luck on finding something closer!

I know that hotel quite well - my wife gives walking tours in the neighborhood. We had a friend's 60th birthday party there a few years back, and the group of us booked up most of their rooms. It's a huge Victorian house, very nice Victorian lobby. Nice neighborhood. Just don't stay in the "haunted" room which has a ghost. The hotel has a very interesting history. Quince, one of our very favorite restaurants in the City, is a block away - but it is moving soon. Short walk to Japantown, and a little longer walk (4 blocks) to Fillmore street for shopping, restaurants, cafes, etc. Lafayette Park is 4 blocks away. Danielle Steele lives in the huge mansion on the corner of Washington & Octavia.
Ample parking in the hotel's lot across the street.
