Hotel in New York City
My husband and I are planning on a trip to New York City this September to see a Yankee/White Sox game and a Cubs/Mets game. Does anyone have a recommendation for a respectable hotel in Manhattan with a reasonable pricetag?

This subject has been beat to death.
Firstly, what do you consider reasonable?
Peak season is Labor Day until the day after New Years Day.
Weekend hotel rates for an entry level moderate hotel will run you $300 per night.
A Marriott or similar will run closer to $500 per night.

September is heading into high season - but depending on the dates you might be able to get something on Priceline. Also have a look at travelzoo.com which often has deals.
But I agree, until you tell us what you consider reasonable it;s hard to be useful.
Are you willing to share a bath - or go the B&B route?

Try www.hotels.com and www.hotwire.com. As other posters mentioned hotel rates are higher during the "tourist season" which is all the warm months, and the fall leading up to Christmas. About the only time you can get great deals is in the dead of winter, Jan and Feb.
You might check the Hotel Grand Union on E32nd St, good location and well priced very nice hotel. www.hotelgrandunion.com.
You also might try the Travel Inn on W42nd. They have a roof pool which would be nice in Sept. Also staying there you can catch the subway to Yankee Stadium, and the 7 train will take you out to Shea Stadium.
Another suggestion is the Millenium Hotels, check their website, they sometimes offer a $199nt special rate online.
Hope this helps, and have a great time while you are here.
As a side note, the NEW Yankee Stadium is coming along quite nicely, and it looks kind of strange 2 stadiums side by side, just went by there last night.

I was just in NYC in March, and loved the Hotel Elysee.....Midtown, between Madison Ave. and Lexington on 54th Street. I loved it, and even tho I was there alone, I spoke to several couples during the brkfst and cocktail hour that were on return trips to this hotel. Very European, very comfortable, quiet, good location......about $325/$350 a night (including the brkfst and cocktails)......check out their website....I think it's www.hotelelysee.com.....if that's not it, just google it.
