Hello!

I am getting married in Georgetown, Colorado on Sunday, Aug. 26th this year and I'm trying to find a hotel in/near Georgetown to accomodate 100 guests. Unfortunately the Georgetown Mountain Inn and The Peck House are full with another wedding party. Any ideas on another hotel I can look at?? Thank you in advance!

Oh, dear. Big problem. I know the "town" not the accomodations at all--passing through to the ski areas. It is always good to check on availability of "things" before setting the date and place.
YOu might consider rooms (nice hotel) in _______ and a shuttle bus to bring your guests to Georgetown.

Yikes! I had the same reaction as Gretchen. Maybe put a call into the chamber of commerce and see if they can give you a suggestion or two.

Big problem. There is almost no upscale hotels in the I-70 corridor until you get to Dillion/Silverthorne. There are a number of motels in the Idaho Springs area but very 50s. There are large number of condos in Georgetown maybe a proptery management could id a entire complex that you could rent. August is a pretty dead time so you might be able to drive a good price. Goggle Georgetown and work through the real estate companies.

Agree with Gretchen. Most likely unless you take over the Super 8 in Georgetown you will need to hire a shuttle. I'd look at Keystone rather than Dillon or Silverthorne. Pretty much the same distance if you take Loveland Pass. It will be more of a vacation/resort atmosphere. I think your guest would enjoy it more.

August is a busy time in the mountains on weekends.( Sorry to once again disagree with fmpden.)
Most traffic records through the Eisenhower Tunnel are set during summer rather than winter. Though lodging in summer is much, much less than winter. You might call Keystone and see if they would put a package together with transportation to and from Georgetown. Not sure if they would but worth a try. Good luck to you.

Hi HMD99--Heather! This is totally off topic but you started a thread back in 2005 on the Europe forum called "Is an overnight train a fun experience?" which I came across yesterday and restarted because it was exactly the question I had. It had a lot of excellent comments and advice and ended with you deciding "we will brave the overnight train and I am optimistic that it will be a fun experience. I like adventure and trying new things and, even if it's not the most comfortable experience in the world, it will definitely be an "experience"....and that, to me, is what travel is all about. Thanks to all and I will provide a trip report upon my return!"
Soooo...one of the responders yesterday to the new 2007 part of the thread echoed my sentiments...Did it turn out o.k. OR...and did you ever do that trip report Congratulations on your upcoming wedding...if it is the same BF who was reluctant to go on the overnight train in 2003 but did, maybe that is the best advert for romantic fun overnight train travel yet
