Copper Mountain wedding
A close friend is getting married at Copper Mountain this summer -- August, if I remember correctly. Anyone out there have their wedding and reception there? Would love to hear how your experience was...
What's your opinion on the accomodations at Copper? Which "village" do you prefer?
Also, tell me what your favorite summertime activities are!
Thanks! : )

Hi
I have not "attended" a wedding - but because the chairlifts are open to all - -we have stumbled across weddings as we have visited Copper.
The view is spectacular! The day can be Beautiful, but with a breathe of wind become chilly - -bring Sunscreen and a wrap or jacket.
As far as "village" -- we have stayed at a few - and it can vary according to "owner" - but we have not been disappointed.
There is a market within, and a Safeway grocery in Frisco {requiring a car} {{otherwise, take the shuttle to/from DIA}} ; trails, horseback riding; occasional fly fishing contests to join in, and people watching {especially the crazies that chair lift their bikes up -and ride down the Black Diamond trails!}
We tend to sit on the balcony and watch the fox run by, then go to the health club for a swim and tennis....

Thank you so much for the information!
I've heard the view is amazing. I think it's pretty neat that you get to ride the chair lift to the ceremony location. Florida girls don't get to do that too often! : )
We've also heard the same thing about the accomodations. Seems like it's kind of "iffy" if you book through Copper directly. We thought about using VRBO for this trip.
I wasn't aware of the shuttle to Copper from the Denver airport! Is there a certain shuttle service that you recommend?
Thanks again for all the great tips!

We enjoy trips to Copper Mtn in the summer -- lots of hiking, golf, horse back riding, and just a 20 minute drive to Vail for alot more;
one chairlift is open to ride upto for the view, a picnic/BBQ or to ride/walk back down {just watch out for the occasional wicked summer lightening!}
The name of the shuttle from DIA to Frisco/Copper is COLORADO MOUNTAIN EXPRESS I believe; around $40.00 each way. Google SUPERSHUTTLE also.
Should you choose to rent a car -the rates should be reasonable during the summer - -the drive is a straight shot West, about 1 3/4 hours {decent pizza at ABO'S in Idaho Springs if you need to stop!}
Good luck with your adventure - happy wishes to the bride and groom!

Car rental prices from DIA can be so reasonable if you bid on Priceline. I look on Expedia or such for the ballpark amount, then on Hotwire which gives the taxes. Then bid on PL. I usually save 50% over Expedia. Not having a car will be very restricting. There is lots to do in the mountains.
