Hotel Hana - a gem

We were really skeptical before we went, as we've heard bad stories about it, which were told BEFORE they had their revamps - both in rooms and service. What a haven it was when we visited a year ago! Zen-like and very quiet surroundings. Villas with your own private jacuzzi on the patio. Bamboo and wooden furniture. HUGE room (600 sq. ft.??) and charming (yes, charming) bathroom. Very clean bed and chairs. Home-made banana bread waiting for our arrival too. We were rather worried when they told us there's no A/C in any of the rooms, but then we found out that with the fans on, it's just unnecessary. (Even during early August.) And A/C would just disturb the tranquil atmosphere! The hotel is built on a ranch so you can do horsebackk-riding along the coast. Absolutely gorgeous.

But then of course, there's the long drive to Hana -- but if you're doing the drive anyway, why don't you treat yourself a night there?

My husband and I stayed there a few months ago on our honeymoon and loved it. We were able to get a better rate than what was quoted on the site.

Good review of the Hana Maui - I loved staying there. Horseback riding on the beach at sunset, followed by a soak in our private hot tub was the perfect end to such a relaxing day.

Actually I forgot the rate...
I only remember it being much less than the Kapalua Bay Hotel.
And I believe what we got (like a junior suite with the view of the ocean plus a few other cottages) was an upgrade. Yes we did call to make the reservations.

Went to their website just now and thought the pictures didn't quite do the hotel justice. Anyway, I'm rather picky but was happy with our room (note: that was a year ago).

[email protected] : ah... I really envy you for arriving there early!! We got there pretty late and were only in time for dinner after admiring the room and the views. We would definitely stay for more than 1 night next time!! Waking up to the sound of the waves is really something. (So make sure you ask for an ocean view cottage.)

Kat, tell us more about the food. One of the complaints about the Hotel Hana that I remember was that the food was not too good. And your dining options are somewhat limited in Hana too, right? Thanks for the review!
