Hotel for no more than $100 in the French Quarter, New Olreans?
I'm tentatively thinking of visting New Orleans in late October. I'll most likely be by myself and would like to stay in the French Quarter and spend no more than $100/night for lodging. I checked some discount websites, but it doesn't seem like this is possible. The place just has to be clean and safe, not fancy. Is this possible? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. T hanks very much in advance!

I've never stayed at La Maison Marigny but it's been getting rave reviews for years. It's on Bourbon Street at the very edge of the French Quarter, and according to their website, rates begin at $139 (a steal for the French Quarter).
I spoke with one of the owners a few years ago when I was planning a party in NO, and he was very helpful. If I were you, I'd jump all over this!

Granted I have not been back since Katrina but I liked staying in the Garden District and riding the St. Charles streetcar into the Quarter. Staying on the east side of Canal St. is not worth $50 more than the west side of the street.
Canal now has a streetcar line that was not there when I was last there.

Here is what I would recommend: I've stayed here many times before and walking out the back door puts you in the French Quarter.

If you scroll down and look at the Specials they are listed into Oct...you can call the Hotel directly and they will often extend teh curent Specials (one is for $110.00 a night) and will work with other deals too...
Yes sf7307..I gave my secret away... but that is what Fodors is for; to help out Fodorites
BTW, they just finnished a multi million dollar upgrade...so is like a 5** property without going thru bidding.
