Hotel Del Coronado - Sunday Brunch

Some friends want to try the Sunday Brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado. Just found out it is $50 per person. Is it worth it?

Itt...I feel the same way about paying a lot of money to eat out. We rarely do it because it just is not our style, and frankly most places are overrated. But I will say that this brunch is worth it!

I've never tried the brunch - $50 for 1 meal is beyond our budget - but I love the Hotel Del. I dream of staying there sometime.

For Breakfast/Brunch, try Hash Haus on 5th - a 180 from the Hot. Del, but a unique place with VG food and enormous portions which should be shared.

Just a question for those who have been to the brunch. WHY is it worth $50? There are many fabulous brunches in San Diego and they don't cost that much, most don't anyway. So, just wondering, why is the Del, other than the fact that it is the Del, worth $50 for brunch?

Heavens,
Of course it's not. That's why I recommended lunch - a relative bargain.

Lunch vs brunch at the del...no comparison. We have stayed at the hotel many times over the years, and have eaten many meals there. All of them good, by the way. The brunch though just has that special flair to it. They begin by bringing you fresh fruit smoothies. The fruits were all ripe to perfection, the seafood cooked just right, and many healthy options.

It is a splurge, definitely, but we have always enjoyed it on our trips there.

No brunch is worth $50. If you want to enjoy Hotel Del Coronado, get the DVD for Some Like it Hot.

We've done it twice and have reservations to do it again later this month. The food is quite good and the ambiance is great. Its continued popularity (make sure you get reservations) attest to that. However, if spending $50 is going to affect your enjoyment, I would pass.
