Hotel Close to SFO and Chevy's?

I've got an overnight layover from SFO and looking for a hotel convenient to both SFO AND a Chevy's Mexican restaurant or any good Mexican Restaurant. (We don't have Chevy's over here) Thanks for your help!

There's an El Torito near the Hyatt. I think there are other hotels in that area too.

Wonder out loud to nobody how Chevy's is in same cell as "any good Mex Rest".

Starting for here and tell us how near you are staying.

141 Hickey Blvd.
S. San Francisco, CA 94080
(650) 755-1617

Many times I reccomending El Rancho on El Camino Real for low price sleeping and schuttel to / from SFO.

1100 El Camino Real
Millbrae, CA 94030
Rates $91.99 - $98.99 - 3 star

Do seek truth in all your travels and you will never be frozen, fried, or famished.

Armani-I live in Hawaii and the Mexican restaurants on the Big Island are not good. Last time I was on the mainland, i went to a Chevy's and enjoyed their margaritas and food, though I know it's not the best, it's better than what I'm used to. Will have a rental car, getting into Oakland 4:30 p.m., then over to SFO area for early morning flight to South Africa.
Thanks TrvlMaven, used to eat at the El Torito in Concord, that'll do!

I know there's a Chevy's in San Mateo. My girlfriend and I always stayed at the Best Western in San Mateo before heading out for Hawaii. I don't know exactly where it is...google maybe? The motel had an airport shuttle and we could leave her car there for free for the 10 days we'd be gone. We stayed there again on our return. You don't say what time you get in. The one problem we always had on the return was Chevy's was always closed by the time we got our luggage and made it back to the Best Western. I think 10:00 was the latest they stayed open.

I like the Best Western El Rancho in Millbrae. We used their park and ride program a couple of times, and the shuttle as well. It's in Millbrae though, so it's the one that Armani mentioned.

There is not a Chevy's in San Mateo that I'm aware of. There is one in the adjacent city of Foster City on Edgewater Dr - maybe that is the one crefloors remembered?

IMO, the best Mexican food in San Mateo is either at a place downtown on B Street between 2nd and 1st (maybe it's between 2nd and 3rd - I forget the name of it) or at little place on El Camino Real just south of 37th Ave, on the east side of the street (sorry, forget that name also).

Also there is a (local?) chain of restaurants called Celia's which I think are a little better than Chevy's. There are two locations in San Mateo.

Fernando's on 37th Ave is very good too.

There used to be a Chevy's in Emeryville (East Bay) if you fly into Oakland (as I believe your post indicated) you can head to the Chevy's before going over the Bay bridge. Not a huge fan of Chevy's, but this particular location was directly on the bay so you had a nice view from the patio. There are also a ton of hotels in that area, but if you are leaving out of SFO in the morning you're better off getting accomodations on the penisula to avoid Bay bridge traffic.

Possibly it's not actually in San Mateo but the cities all run together. I do know that it is very close to the Best Western, San Mateo..didn't take very much time to drive there.

I googled it ...OK the motel is the Best Western Los Prados, San Mateo. It's at 2940 South Norfold St., San Mateo. The Chevy's is the one in Foster City. It's 1.79 miles from the motel so an easy cab jaunt if you want or need. I know there is better Mexican but I really like their salsa and chips AND their Fah Jeetas!!! LOL

Have a great trip. As an African board lurker, I'll be looking for your report. My brother and SIL leave for South Africa next week I think. They have fairly limited time and $ and it's been my SIL's dream to go to Africa, so they have an opportunity and are taking it. The'll be in Kruger I think?

That's another place on my wish list, which is why I lurk on the Africa Board.
