Hotel booking question?

I am going to New York City June 2005 for 6 days. I booked the Belvedere Hotel through Central Reservation Services with a rate of $155 a night for 2 people. Even AAA was higher. The thing I liked about this service was they asked for a credit card # but I would not be charged until I arrived. My question, has anyone used Central Reservation Services b4 ? and when you book through internet booking agent how far ahead would you call the hotel directly to make sure you do indeed have a reservation with them? I have read horror stories of people going to a hotel and there being no record of a reservation being made. Never booking with CRS, even though they have hotels in Florida, New York, Chicago and Boston, still makes me alittle nervous. Thank you for your time.

Can't answer your question, as I always book through the hotels themselves, but wanted to let you know, since you're new here, that if you click on your name, above after WELCOME, all your posts will come up.

Welcome to the forum,

I haven't used CRS before, but when using a service I usually give it 24 hours before callling the hotel to confirm that we are in their system too. Enjoy your trip!

Elberko, thank you for the information about clicking on my name. I posted yesterday on the United States board but than I got to thinking I should have posted on the New York board, and I didn't realize it would post again twice, US and New York Today. So I didn't mean to double post. I have cut and pasted and printed so many post with such helpful information on New York and we are also going to DC, taking the train from DC to NY and when I put everything together from everyone here, I'm sure I can't miss on having a great trip. Thank you Margie, I will call the hotel and make sure I am in there system and if not I'll just re-book with them. At least peace of mind.

Marl - ITA with calling the hotel directly to make sure reservation is in the system. Also, make sure you get a *hard copy* of your reservation and take it with you the day you arrive at the hotel.
