Anyone know of some hot springs near the Columbia River Gorge/Hood River area, either in Oregon or Washington?

Have you tried Google? I found a bunch of hot springs in about 8 seconds that way. Try Googling for "Portland hot springs," reading about a few of them, then asking for feedback on two or three that catch your fancy.

A work associate who usually stays in Four Seasons type places recently spent a night at Bonneville Hot Springs Resort. He didn't give the place a rave review, but didn't say it stunk either.

I think you're probably talking about Carson Hot Springs in Carson, WA, near Skamania. It's fabulous if you're into wonderfully funky. It's very clean but not new. Great old hotel, I think the baths are about $15 and a massage maybe $65 ish. Great place. Go up the road to Skamania Lodge for lunch or dinner afterwards.
