Hot new restaurants in L.A.

I get to L.A. about once and year and like good food. Are there any HOT new restaurants with good food the most important feature? I liked LUques when I went about one year ago. Diane

Wolfgang Puck's new restaurant Vert at Hollywood and Vine is one of my favorite new restaurants.

If you're interested in a bar with a great view, check out the new Standard Hotel in downtown LA.

LA times magazine just posted it's list of the "Magnificent Seven":

Angelini Osteria (Italian, old school)
7313 Beverly Blvd.
323/297-0070

Jar (American)
8225 Beverly Blvd
323/655-6566

G. Garvin's (Southern USA)
8420 E 3rd Street
323/655-3888

Alex (Contemporary Euro Cuisine)
6703 Melrose Ave
323/933-5233
(I've been here it's divine)

There are a few more.. but they are also in the Valley and Huntington beach.
Welcome to LA!

I am also seriously into cool restaurants...BUT, this trip we are bringing our three kids ages 8, 11, & 13. They are very well-behaved but will we be accepted or shunned at the restaurants that have been mentioned?

LA tends to be a casual type of city, so if your kids are truly well behaved I don't see a problem. Reward them with an In N Out burger and tacquitos on Olivera Street in between fancy meals.

I have read a lot of great reviews for Vert and Jsies...could we bring children to either of those places?
