Hot hampton restaurants

We are planning to travel to East hampton this summer and looking for some dining suggestions. My DH has never been and it's been years since I have. We're looking for a great meal in a great setting- upscale but not stuffy. East hampton, amagansett, sag harbour and maybe bridgehampton-- we don't want to have to drive too far at night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nick and Tony's is very good with a great vibe, but reservations are difficult to come by - I think you need to call 10 days in advanced in the morning.

Nick & Toni's is the hot spot in EH and impossible for reservations on a weekend, but if you're staying some place nice, they might be able to get you a table. Della Femina's is the other "see and be seen" hot spot.

East Hampton Point is a lovely setting on the water and is usually good. 1770 House in the inn can be nice. Cittenuova is nice, casual but upscale Italian.

The Beacon in Sag Harbor is very good, on the water, no reservations (ugh). If you go early, it's a nice sunset spot with an outdoor table on the deck. Agree that the American Hotel also in Sag Harbor can be wonderful. On a nice evening, sitting on the front porch is fun.

In Bridgehampton, Bobby Van's and World Pie are on Main St. across from each other-both very good but neither a must imo.

Muse ... incredible, inventive cuisine.

Estia ... for breakfast.

1770 House ... the downstairs tavern is great and less formal than the upstairs dining room.

Dave's Grill ... the freshest/best seafood in the Hamptons.

Sunset Beach ... THE place to see and be seen (Shelter Island).

JLX Bistro ... the seared ahi tuna is one of the best dishes in all the Hamptons.

World Pie ... for the pizza.

Oasis ... quiet, beautiful.

Rowdy Hall ... for beer, mussels, burgers, etc.

I could go on and on and on, but that's a start.

thank you all- wow , I am so surprised and pleased to hear that some of the places I used to go to are still "in". "back in the day", we went to Nick and toni's, Bobby van's, the American hotel, estia (boy i went there when i was 16-- a LONG time ago). Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll be sure to write a trip report after we go. Is the Laundry still around in easy hampton?

The Laundry is open, as it has been since 1980, but it moved to Pantigo Road past town.

Wow, I forgot about one of my favorite dining spots, Tutto Il Giorno overlooking the water in Sag Harbor (Bay Street).

It opened last year.
