Hoover Dam tour company

I never thought I'd be one of the ones having to look into this--but here it goes.

We're going to Vegas in 2 weeks in celebration of my brother's b'day. He used to do construction and has a great interest in seeing the Hoover Dam. I guess in my severely wine-buzzed stupor the other night I mentioned to his girlfriend that for his b'day gift my dh and I would look into booking a tour to the Hoover Dam as his gift. Man, I'm kicking myself now! I certainly don't remember saying it but of course she does. I don't even know if I said it to him, too, or just her. Anyway, we are on a very strict budget so I'm trying to find an inexpensive, quick tour package. I don't want to rent a car and I don't want it to be an all day adventure--we have a limo picking us up at 7 to cruise around for his b'day. I'd like a few hours in between to freshen up and have a few cocktails.

Does anyone have any experience with this company?:

This is around the price we'd like to keep it at.

why not just rent a car for the day...you can get them at many of the hotels and it would be cheaper than the tour. You'd also be on your own schedule. Hoover Dam is less than an hour away.

From the website all this "tour" appears to be is a ride to the dam.

OK--so we are now considering renting a car. Since no one else could help me with that tour company, does anyone have any reco's for an inexpensive car rental company on the strip? Preferably close to the Flamingo? We found great deals through Priceline but have to pickup at the airport which would end up costing us more than we want to spend in money and time.

We are still considering this tour but I'm having travel finding reviews on the company.

Most of the Strip hotels have car-rental agencies on site, and you can pick up a hotel there. The Flamingo's location makes it rather easy to get to any hotel from Caesars to the Venetian, so look at hotels in that group in the mid-Strip. Payless is typically the cheapest company with their regular rates, but I'm not sure they have a hotel-located rental office.
