Honolulu: Oceanarium Restaurant

Any rants and raves about this place? A friend suggested lunch to see the three story, 280,000 gallon saltwater tank that holds hundreds of tropical fish.

I had lunch there about 5 years ago. The aquarium was beautiful to see. I was with a group of travel agents, so of course, they sat us right next to the tank and a diver welcomed us on a little writing board...shmoozing,of course!

At the time, other than the tank, the atmosphere was pretty bland. You're there to see the fish, though. The food was fine. It was a neat experience-one I would do again.I know kids would love it.

We stayed at the Pacific Beach a number of years ago. The restaurant was fine - not spectacular and not bad - and it was fun to watch the fish. The divers were in there feeding them from time to time. I'd say if you're looking for a pleasant and entertaining lunch, or even dinner, it's a good place to go.

I had dinner there a few years ago and don't remember what the food was like (what does that tell you ) The main attraction is the aquarium.

My daughter just returned from her honeymoon on Oahu and had dinner there on New Year's Eve. I don't know if the food was typical for a regular night but they really enjoyed the experience, food and all.

They went there because the book Oahu Revealed recommends it.

I like to go there for special occasion buffets and/or if I'll have kids with me. Like all the other posters said, the attraction is the tank.....I had lunch there a couple times and it was glorified cafeteria food at best.
