Not all me! It's thanks to bill + marteen for blowing though Honolulu! Always good to see you Fodorites again, especially doing stuff off the beaten path. We don't need no stinkin' guidebooks!

bill, I knew you guys should have bought a bag of andagi for the road!!! I just knew it. Well, next time.

I actually tried my hachimaki on my head this morning before I went running. I really need a mirror to tie it on right.

Part one of Fodorites in Kakaako, posted here:

I'm rushing to get part 2 up.

OK I hope this second URL works. I apologize in advance for the rough writing, this was really a rush to get it posted!

Before I read Melissa's blog, I just have to tell you, kuranosuke, that I laughed right out loud when I read that you didn't know where mari put all the food!!! The real icee said the same thing about her. Mari and others, please take this in the spirit it is intended!!! For those of you who have seen her, you understand.....for those of you who have not seen her, she is about as big as a nanosecond!!

And, after I googled andagio, I do understand that billyboy snarfed them all up, but I do not understand that he didn't buy more to take for a late night snack!!!

Ok...off to read about all your fun...

You guys had great time, and Melissa's Blog made me search for Bon Dance around San Francisco!

And it's funny to see the traditional Japanese outfit worn over shorts!

Andagi: Okinawan doughnut. Not light like a malasada, heavy like pound cake!

OK gotta go prepare for a hurricane...

Melissa,

Of course Martin is already looking for a recipe for andagi.

Thanks again. It was a perfect way to end an excellent trip to the islands!

Sounds like you guys had fun! I just returned home yesterday and was wondering how the bon dance GTG went.

Andagi - yum - especially when it's super fresh and the outside is still a little crispy.

Mucho mahalos to Kuranosuke for leading the way in dance! I really do think I may work up enough nerve to try dancing at the next one.

This was a great get together and I am getting hungry just looking at the photos of our food that night!!! Melissa and Kura you really knew what to order for us. Think I may only remember the name for that kimchee pancake, a new fav!

...and lcy I thought the same thing about the Andagi. I could smell it could not find!!! Thought that would have been a nice topper. And then to see those munching pictures of bill and martin, a little more than I can handel. LOL

Bill remind Martine to order the film "the picture bride". It will add to your experience at the bon dance although not at all about bon dances.

...talk of Asia and Gilatto so poked the ich of travel. A great night out.

Looked like they ran out of most stuff, but toward the end there were bags and bags and bags of fresh hot andagi, 3 for $1. Martin wd take a bite, yell "This is great!" take another bite, yell again, etc.

Bill could not yell because his mouth was full of andagi.

(As you can see in the photo.)

You guys! I am beginning to feel as though we were the entertainment instead of the bon dance!

Here is a link to the photos from our trip. The ones from Honolulu are towards the end (saving the best for last).
