When are you going? That would help a lot. Southern Florida is gorgeous many months of the year, but can be beastly hot and humid in the summer. It is a tropical swamp for goodness sakes.
And where are you coming from?

Key West is indeed very hot in the midst of summer. However, there is a nice selection of beaches in the other keys and great B&Bs. If you go, check out Blue Heaven for breakfast... mmmmmm.
Another suggestion to check out is St. Augustine. It is a quaint relatively quiet town with historical sites. It is nice to stroll along the river and relax. The B&Bs there are plentiful allowing a nice selection of romantic accommodations. There is also great beach. It is easily reached by car after flying into a variety of airports. (Jacksonville, Daytona, Orlando) And, if you want, it is close enough to come enjoy Orlando.
Congrats on the wedding!

If you decide to go with Key West, we really loved the Marquesa - www.marquesa.com.
