Honeymooners need advice on Maui

We are planning a two week honeymoon with one week in Maui and one in Kauai. We were thinking of splitting the week in Maui by staying at the Fairmont on Wailea for a few nights and then somewhere on Kaanapali for a few nights, leaning towards the Hyatt. Anyone have have any advice, suggestions, or ideas about this plan, especially where to stay in Kaanapali for a honeymoon?

your plan is perfect...explore one end of the island - Napali, Kapalua and beyond, and then the other end Makena! Hyatt is wonderful although I prefer Kapalua Bay Hotel, more Hawaiin and intimate, no wrong choices...have fun!

I think KBH is a good idea. A little more lush - nice contrast to the more arid Wailea area... A little more isolated but not a far drive to Kaanapali and Lahaina at all.

Thanks for the information. We are also thinking about staying at Kapalua Bay, but are a little worried about the weather there in late Decemeber and being a little further away from the action. Any preference between Kapalua Bay Hotel and the Ritz Carlton? Any other suggestions on places to stay in Kaanapali? Thanks for all the help.

I also think your plan is great. Don't
shy away from the Hyatt - It's great!
Both hotels you have choosen are terrific - but I prefer the Hyatt. Much
prettier grounds. Have a wonderful
honeymoon!

The Ritz Carlton is much nicer than the Kapalua Bay Hotel. Nicer grounds, better pool area, much nicer rooms, better service, better food. The RC definitely gets windy, though, and the beach is not quite as close as KB's, and not as nice.
Kapalua is a very quiet area. Much quieter than Wailea.
So if your goal was to balance off Wailea by staying someplace livelier, stick with Kaanapali. Hyatt's a good choice there.

Just a tip- My husband and I did this same trip for our honeymoon back in 2000. The snokeling at the Rennisance Resort in Wailea was AWESOME!

Have fun!
