Hello!

My name is Zach. My fiancé and I are to be married on June 26th and on June 28th we will be going on our honeymoon. The first half will be Monday to Friday. First stop is Vegas, not to stay, but to pick up our Campervan. We will be traveling to The Grand Canyon for sunset and sunrise hike on stop one, then Page Arizona and Antelope canyon for paddle boarding and hiking on stop two, and then into Zion for two days. We will arrive in Vegas again Friday morning to pick a flight to our next destination, Maui Hawaii.

now, the first part is booked. The individual stops are yet to be determined. The second, is still up in the air. We want to go to Hawaii. Our price range for this half is 3,000 to 3,500. We intend to stay in Hawaii for five days. We would like a hotel, however we are debating air bnb or possibly something like it. We are looking for tips on travel agents, excursions, hikes, eats and drinks, stories, and of course recommendations on both trips. We will be renting a vehicle, so we can travel the island freely and explore. We would rather not rent a camper van on the second half, because we’re looking for stationary place to live for five days on this half.

I have nothing to offer about part 2, but a few quick comments on part 1.

Consider hotels instead of campervan. All of your destinations have good hotel options at a range of prices... Your overall cost may be the same or lower, and your comfort higher. Nothing wrong with a campervan,but hotels with hot showers and big beds are nice too....


Page. Consider a 1/2 day float trip on the Colorado river through the Glenn Canyon that remains below the dam. I believe you can find videos of this on youtube.

Congratulations . . . Now for the bad news . . . I think a camper van is a terrible idea. Late June/early July will be very (could be VERY) hot. An RV will cost more than just renting a car and staying in hotels, and hotels will be a lot more comfortable.

For the Hawaii part -- does the $3000 to $3500 budget include your airfares?

Hey, thanks so much for replying and I appreciate your input! We did consider that towards the beginning, but we’re doing it for the camping experience as well. We understand it may not be the most comfortable method, but we are just those kind of people that crave the camper activities.

As for the float trip, that sounds like so much fun. We are going to look into that!!

Fortunately there is air conditioning! It’s a camper designed van, but that would be difficult if not!! We anticipate hot weather, but it’s not as hot at night.

Thank you so much for replying!! I completely understand, there is a port to plug in at the campgrounds at Grand Canyon, Page Arizona, and Zion, so fortunately, we will have AC. But the weather is fairly durable at night hopefully, so if we must stay without electric, we’ll endure.

As for the flights to Hawaii, we have found a flight to Hawaii and back home for around $1950 for the both of us. We’re aiming to spend about $1500 on hotel/air bnb or other lodging for five days. Hopefully in West Maui. But looking for other recommendations if you have them.

Hey, thank you so much for responding. I did hear about the 72 hour hold, but after looking into the Hawaii vaccination timeline as well, it looks as though travelers who can show proof of vaccination will be good to travel in April May timeframe. It’s at Hawaii.guide.com. I would share the exact link, but it will not allow me. We are vaccinated, so hopefully we will be good come June.

I agree with you how we do not need a travel agent because, it looks like through here and trip advisor forum we may be able to book what we need with the information we receive. I looked into your hotel, and it’s gorgeous. We’re looking at it further. Also, I plan to post on the travel advisor Maui forum to get some bites there as well. Huge help, thank you.

You will need to keep an eye on Antelope Canyon. It is on the Navajo Reservation, which has been extremely hard hit by Covid, and is currently shut down. It may not be open by June. Kanab has plenty of hikes/places to visit, so you should be fine.
