Homestead (VA) vs. Boars Head Inn
Can anyone compare them for me? Or even just give me their experience at either?
We're looking for a short, two-night, mid-week getaway with nice accommodations, good food, great golf and (preferably) a spa. It needs to be a short drive from DC.

Homestead is much more extravagant (and expensive) than Boar's Head...its really not even in the same category.
If you're looking at other options, Keswick Hall (just east of Charlottesville) is in Homestead's category.
Both are great places. Both are very expensive. The golf is maybe a little better at Homestead; food is outstanding at both places. I'm not into spas but I know both places have them.

The Homestead is larger than the Boars Head and has more activities in addition to golf & spa: skiing, skating, movie theaters, shopping. It's a self contained resort destination. Charlottesville, OTOH, is a much more interesting place to explore than Hot Springs.
The Homestead is a longer drive from DC (4 hours mayber?).
I haven't stayed at the Homestead in a number of years so hesitate to comment on the quality of the food.
I think both places would fit your needs for a two day getaway.

Look at the prices. The Homestead often has good mid-week specials. Unless I am interested in dancing during dinner, I prefer the food at the casual Sam Snead's Tavern and The Grille Room to the food at The Homestead Dining Room. The Cascades Course at the Homestead is one of the top courses in the country.

The Homestead is much nicer. It is also a longer drive. (I would prefer Homestead to Boars Head.) There is also the Keswick like NYJets has mentioned it is also a great resort. I know there is a resort in eastern shore area of VA called the Tides Inn. I am not sure what they have in line of spas and such.(it might be closer for you) My husband stayed there on business once and liked it.
