Hollywood Roosevelt VS Renaissance Hollywood

I need to make arrangements for just one night in May. It's either one of these as the area is what is most important. From what I read on both these hotels, they can both be nice but the Roosevelt has differences of opinions I can see. Has anyone stayed there recently?

Thanks!

Roosevelt old and tired, small rooms, many changes of ownership over the last 10 years.

Renaissance brand new, attached to the Kodak theatre (Academy Awards home), great rooftop pool.

I stayed in the Renaissance last summer. Loved it. I haven't been in a room in the Roosevelt, so I can't compare them directly.

So you think pay the extra $$$$ and stay at the renaissance?
Can't seem to find anyone that really likes the Roosevelts rooms much...any other opinions?

Well, I'm not sure what you're looking for here. I didn't answer yesterday since I felt I had nothing more to add to the good answers you have. But if you still want more confirmation, then yes, go to the Rennaissance.
I see it as your having a choice. Which do you want? A very fine new hotel with good rooms and good facilities, or a hit and miss old hotel with some character and history, but a good chance you'll get a small or rundown room. You decide.
